Strength: T6 and T651 are appropriately high-strength grades obtained by heat treatment, providing higher strength than 5-series alloys.
 
Machinability: 6261 T6 aluminum round bars are easier to process than 5XXX alloys under T6 conditions.
 
Formability: 6261 T6 aluminum round bars can be formed into T6 state during cold processing, or form T451 state after tempering. T451 state has higher moldability than T651 state.
 
Corrosion resistance: 6261 T6 aluminum round bar, T651/T652/T6 state, has good corrosion resistance. Compared with 5XXX alloy, 6261 T6 aluminum round rods can still exhibit excellent corrosion resistance when exposed to high temperature environments.
 
Weldability: 6261 T6 aluminum round bars are easy to weld, and can act as a suitable filler whether in the case of GTA-W or GMA-W. In the heat-affected zone, the tensile strength of welding can be reduced to 165-200 MPa. In special cases, post-weld heat treatment can restore some of the lost strength.
